When do online summer classes open and for how long?

Summer online classes will be from July 6, 2020 to July 17, 2020, mornings only.
When will SY 2020-21 start?
Answer:
Formal classes will start online on August 3, 2020. Take note of the following:
- 9:00 a.m., July 29, 2020 (Thursday): Parents’ Orientation on the ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING PLATFORM (ODLP) manual through Facebook livestream. We will be creating a Facebook group for Berea parents.
- 9:00 a.m., July 30, 2020 (Friday): High School Student Orientation on the ODLP Student Handbook followed by subject orientation through Zoom Conferencing.

What is the Berea ODLP?
Answer:
It is an online system where students can learn and be evaluated from home. The system also allows students to converse directly with their teachers through video streaming and messaging platforms (ZOOM and Edmodo).

How does the new curriculum look like?
Answer:
Berea follows the most essential competencies prescribed by the Department of Education. Lessons traditional and unique to Berea education are also integrated into the curriculum.
What is hybrid learning?
Answer:
It is a combination of traditional face-to-face learning and online distance learning.
Will Berea adopt hybrid learning?
Answer:
Berea is ready for hybrid learning, but for the first quarter and until further notice, the school will adopt only the online distance learning.
How will online classes be administered?
Answer:
There will still be definite classroom schedules. There will be prerecorded videos and other learning materials uploaded in Edmodo, live sessions through ZOOM, and independent study periods. Details will be described in the upcoming ODLP manual.
Are there any adjustments in tuition fees and other fees?
Answer:
There will be no adjustment in the tuition fees. However, the school is coming up with the list of reduced miscellaneous fees. To check the detailed breakdown of the adjustments made in the miscellaneous fees, please click the link(s) below.
How is Berea ODLP different from homeschooling?
Answer:
- Berea ODLP has a set of objectives to be met every week. Homeschooling has only one set of objectives for a whole module.
- Berea ODLP allows virtual/online interaction among students and their teachers who provide professional instruction and guidance. In homeschooling, academic assistance relies solely on the parents or hired tutors.
- Berea ODLP follows a class schedule. In homeschooling, every student learns at his/her own pace.
- Berea ODLP offers remedial classes online by request. Remedial classes are not usually available in homeschooling.
How will Berea monitor the progress of students?

How will student performance be graded or evaluated?

Is the Berea ODLP recognized by DepEd?
Answer:
Berea is a Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) accredited institution. PEAC works closely with DepEd on private education.
Would teachers also work/teach from home or from BEREA?
Answer:
Both. Since most teachers live on campus, they may conduct or deliver their instruction from campus.
Does Berea have an electronic library where students can access information for their projects and research work?
Answer:
None, but the teachers have been developing their own instructional videos. Furthermore, they have been curating online resources for their classes.
How will confidentiality of data be handled by the Berea ODLP?
Answer:
By the structure of Edmodo and Zoom, confidentiality can be assured. Teachers have also been briefed on proper information security. On the parents’ end, Berea also asks assistance on securing information like passwords, accounts, etc.
